General Strike Information

Q What Certifications and medical requirements are necessary to work the strike?
A All Respiratory therapists and RN’s other than Case managers and Utilization Review working the PA Strike Must have a BLS, plus any other certifications required in their area of specialty.
   
Q I was scheduled for the strike before it was postponed, do I need to sign up again?
A Yes signup for PA strike 2 here.
   
Q What do I need to bring on site?
A On site you will need to bring a hand carried physical copy of your complete file.
   
Q Can I print out the information I entered into the website for my physical file?
A Yes, if you've been assigned to a strike.  Login to your Healthsource Global account and the strike that you've been nominated and assigned will be displayed along with an option to print your profile.
   
Q Do I have to work the entire strike?
A Since this strike is ongoing we need at least a week long commitment. Please remember that strike sometimes settle or get postponed prior to their scheduled end date.
   
Q Will there be picket lines?
A Yes and we will drive you past the picket line to a safe hospital entrance. There will be high levels of security at and around the hospital to ensure your complete safety. In the many years that we have staffed strikes we have never had a safety issue with any replacement worker and we plan to keep it that way.
   
Q Will I be with the striking workers during orientation before the strike begins?
A No orientation is handled at a separate training facility, not the hospital.
   
Q Do I have to stay in the hotel?
A Yes, this is a strike situation and for your safety it is mandatory that you stay in the hotel provided. Unless you live close in which case you must drive to the hotel and board our bus for transportation to work.
   
Q Are meals provided?
A A meal card will be provided each day for meals at the facility.
   
Q Can we guarantee Shifts?
A We attempt to schedule you on your shift preference but it is not guaranteed. This is a strike situation and replacement staff are assigned areas that they are most needed.
   
Q Do you offer benefits?
A We do not offer benefits for strike replacement staff, but do for longer term travel assignments.
   
Q Why do I hear different things from different recruiters?

Q What needs to be in my file?
A The requirements for your file depend upon you specialty. See the right and left side file requirements depending on your specialty. The essential documents and individual forms can be found here.
   
Q What are these left and rights?
A Your files need to be organized by placing documents on the right and left sides of your file according to the order specified by the right and left side file requirements document.
   
Q Do I need 3 copies of my file?
A We require 2 copies of the file, one for Healthsource, one for the hospital, and we recommend a 3rd copy for your own records. The easiest way to do this is bring a single complete file to the site, have it reviewed then use the provided copiers to make additional copies.
   
Q Does my payroll information (W4/I9 forms) go into the file?
A No, only one copy is required and goes directly to the payroll department.

 

Payroll Information

Q When will I get my paycheck?
A Checks are usually mailed seven business days from the last day of the strike via regular mail to the address on your W4 form.
   
Q Does my W4 form need to be a 2009 form?
A Yes, it is available here.
   
Q Does my I9 form need to be notarized?
A No, but a photocopy of either your driver’s license and social security card or passport is required along with page 4 of the I9 form available here.
   
Q Is direct deposit available for the strike?
A No, we are unable to provide direct deposit for this assignment.
   
Q What is reimbursable?
A Mileage, will be calculated at $0.33 per mile up to $300.
Parking fees paid for parking at the strike location with original receipt only.
Luggage fees for air travel will be granted with original receipts only.
   
Q When will I get my reimbursement?
A Reimbursements are sent in a separate check based off a reimbursement form after the main paychecks are processed.
   
Q Where can I get a reimbursement form?
A It is located on the website here in adobe PDF format.
   
Q What number do I fax my reimbursement form or timesheet to?
A The accounting department fax number is 866-908-2914.
   
Q If the strike settles or is postponed what do I get paid?
A If you arrive to the strike site/command center with a complete strike file and the strike is settled or postponed and you are unable to go to work you will be paid $1000 and flown home as soon as possible.
   
Q Do I get overtime?
A You will earn overtime at a rate of time and half for every hour over 40 in one week.
   
Q Am I guaranteed 40 hours a week?
A No there are no guaranteed hours this is a strike and could settle or be postponed at anytime.
